ESQIDO Lashes

So anyone that wears false lashes on the regular knows that Mink Lashes are the more luxurious and high end option compared to commonly found synthetic lashes so when ESQIDO false eyelashes asked me to try out some of their lashes I of course jumped at the opportunity!

Esqido were kind enough to send me two pairs of lashes:  Lashlorette and Voila Lash.  For the purposes of this review though I'm only going to talk about Lashlorette.

Voila Lash is a beautiful lash but it's VERY FULL and long...I can only imagine wearing this style for a club night or perhaps New Years Eve sort of thing...definitely not your "Go to dinner" or "Nice night out" lashes...at least on my eyes (just a bit to overwhelming to look natural.

Lashlorette on the other hand was a perfect "Night Out" lash.  Perfect amount of volume and length to add drama and definition to the eye w/out looking like a drag queen or just "too much".  As I've found w/ other mink lashes in the past Esqido lashes have a great curve to them and fall nicely on to the lash line making them very easy to apply.  And they are very light weight once on.

The great thing about mink lashes vs. synthetic is yes while they are more expensive w/ proper care you can get up to 25 uses from them.  So they are an investment but if you're spending $5-7 on a pair of synthetic Quo lashes from Shoppers that you only wear once if you wear these even for half the amount of times they say they'll actually work out to be cheaper.  And don't worry animal lovers all the mink is responsibly sourced during a natural molting/shedding cycle and they are sterilized and hypoallergenic.

One of the great things about Esqido's site is they offer a Lash Guide which asks several questions about your eyes, the occasion and your lash applying expertise to help suggest the best lash for you!

For my business purposes I do personally wish the bands on the lashes were clear not black and that they had shorter options (even the least voluminous option is still quite long).  My clients tend to be VERY natural people so even though I know how to rock a set of lashes like Lashlorette when I go out I think a lot of them would find something like that still WAY too dramatic for them.

Also when choosing a lash you have to look at the person's natural eye shape.  I personally don't have a lot of lid space therefore something like Voila Lash just sort of overwhelms my eye but someone w/ huge eyes and lots of lid space before the brow could totally pull of something like this.

Although I didn't try them out knowing my personal style and my clients I think Unforgettable and Little Black Lash would be great options!  I personally prefer the types where they enhance the eye but the average person might not even know they are fake.

They also have a PRO Makeup Artist Program so definitely something for the MUAs out there to check out!

All the pics are showing the Lashlorette Style...as you can see on my eyes they are very full and quite dramatic.  They pretty much reach my eyebrows...This is why I think anything bigger or fuller might just be a bit of overkill on my eyes.

Girls Just Want To Have Fun!

So yesterday was a busy day for me.  Wedding in the morning, bachelorette party at night!  I had so much fun at the bachelorette party.  What a great group of girls!  I even stayed longer then planned b/c they were so much fun and sweet...plus as we found out in my other post I obviously have no life of my own I spend Fri. nights cleaning makeup brushes lol!

So yeah I arrived at the Bachelorette party around 5:45 and not all the guests were there yet so the girls offered me a cocktail.  Always a great way to start off a gig lol.  I wish all jobs started w/ cocktails!  They had arranged to have an on-site bartender there to make drinks throughout the party and also to teach the girls some tricks and history of different cocktails and drinks...it was very entertaining.

Basically, my game plan was to do a demo/makeup lesson for the party guests using the bride-to-be as my demo model...therefore she get's her makeup done and everyone gets to learn some new tips and tricks.  First I did a day look and then we all took a break, ate some food, had a drink (not me I only had the one don't worry) and then I moved on to the second part of my demo...taking that day look and switching it to night.  During the demo the girls got to ask me any questions they had about products and techniques.

Lindsay, the bride looked great after and totally glam and ready to go out to the bar later that night.  After the demo one of the girls asked me if I could teach her about doing a smokey on her...she was Asian and I've had a lot of Asians in the past ask me about smokey eyes so I was more then  happy to show her...even though this wasn't part of the original plan ;) .  She looked great after and I even did a little contouring and lip gloss too.  Of course a couple of others then wanted to get their makeup done...how was I going to say no the girls were all so nice and I didn't have any plans on Saturday night so why not.

Here's a couple of pics of me at work on the bride-to-be Lindsay as I did some last minute touch ups before she went out...excuse how greasy I look lol.

So if you have a Girl's Night or Bachelorette Party coming up think about a Makeup Demo/Lesson.  Great way to do something a bit different, have fun w/ your girls AND get your makeup professionally done at the same time!

Weddings, Bachelorette Parties and Touch Up Kits!

So it's a Fri. night and being the cool, hip person I am I'm staying in and cleaning my makeup brushes, packing my makeup kit and preparing for a couple of jobs I have tomorrow.  Hey, I'm old and responsible...don't judge lol...plus I have to be at the hotel for a wedding job at 7:00 am which probably means I'll be up at 5:15 am just to be safe.  So of course I needed to take a little break from all the hard work I'm doing ;) and I thought what better then to be productive (aka procrastinate) and write on my blog that's been sorely neglected lately :(.

So yeah tomorrow I have a fun day.  I have a wedding tomorrow morning...really fun bride then tomorrow night I'm working a bachlorette party!  Bachelorette party you ask?  So yeah tomorrow I'm doing a Girl's Night Party which is a really fun idea.  After going on my website the sister of the bride approached me and asked how I could incorporate a makeup lesson, bachelorette party and her sister (the bride) getting her makeup done for the night out (b/c she's always wanted to have her makeup professionally done).

So I suggested we do a group makeup lesson where I use the bride as the demo girl.  Basically, I'll do a day look on the bride w/ all the girls watching.  I'll explain everything I'm doing, give tips and they can ask any questions they want.  I'll then show them how to turn that day look into a night look w/ a few easy steps...plus I'll give the bride some false lashes for some extra fun night time drama.  Then I'll sit w/ each girl for 5-10 mins and I'll go over some products that might work for them and I'll tell them what to ditch and what to keep out of their current makeup collection plus answer anymore questions they have.

Anyway, back to the wedding.  I'm packing everything up and that includes my bridal touch up kit and I thought I should take a couple of pictures of what I include in my bridal touch up kit to show you guys.

Start off w/ a little white organza pouch (got them off ebay super cheap in bulk)
1. Business Cards (4 or so...never know who might want to know who made the bride look so fabulous)
2. Compact Mirror
3. Lipgloss
4. Lipstick (I either use an E.L.F lipstick shown in pic or I put a sample of the lipstick used in a little Yaby empty pan)
5. Disposable Lip Wands - 2 (Again ebay...actually same seller as I got the awesome mini sifter jars!)
6. Mini Sifter Jar w/ Translucent Powder (just take a bit of my Yaby translucent powder and put it in the jar)
7. Powder Puff for Translucent Powder
8. Mini Nail File (that's the little white thing w/ red crosses)

See how compact and cute it all is!

You'll notice I have a lot of E.L.F cosmetics in my touch up kit.  E.L.F is great for things like that.  It's affordable (esp. if you do a big order when they have a 50% off everything sale...or even on a reg. day it's cheap!) and the products are compact so they fit perfectly into the little pouch.  Plus let's be real...you don't have to get fancy w/ a compact mirror or powder puff so why spend an arm and a leg!

P.S. Booked 2 weddings today for Oct...Almost all booked up for Oct! :)
