Stolen Solace

A new editorial of mine just came out!  Yeah...I  never get tired of seeing new work published!  Had to wait a day to tell you guys b/c at first they accidently credited another MUA for my work...booo!  Luckily, it's an online publication and not print so the problem was quickly corrected.  James Nixon the editor at Fantasticsmag.com is super cool about stuff like that...once a photographer forgot to credit my assistant for a shoot that was published on Fantastics and James fixed it (which was really nice b/c I always want my assistants to get the credit they deserve!).

Anyway, you may remember me writing about this shoot a few mths back under the title Sensual Romance.  Here's the finished product which I think turned out really beautiful!  I reallly like the title "Stolen Solace" as well.

This one is my Fav!

Go Ask Alice

Like I mentioned yesterday I had another editorial come out yesterday and I'm VERY excited about it. I did this shoot back in late Nov. and you may even remember me mentioning (Amanda in Wonderland). Anyway, I was really happy w/ the Makeup & Hair work I did that day so I've really wanted to show everyone the results for awhile...and now I finally can :)

It's up now at Fantasticsmag. It's an online mag that changes several times a wk and has some very interesting editorials...I highly suggest you check it out if you haven't before. I've actually had my work on the site 3 times now...including my Fav shoot ever (the Powder story for those that are familiar w/ my work). They usually do a nice spread and I really like what they did w/ this shoot...I really like the title they came up w/ too.

Go Ask Alice
Photographer Dexter Quinto
Stylist Annie Lam
Model Amanda (Elite)
Makeup & Hair Jessica Jean Myers
Assistant Hair David Smith
This picture is actually horizontal in the spread (like she's falling...it's an interesting take on the picture but I feel like you can appreciate the makeup better when it's vertical)
It's rare that I like ALL the pics chosen by a photographer for an editorial but in this one I really do...I think there are so many great pics and I'm really happy w/ the results on this one!

One Shoot - 4 EDITORIALS!

First off to anyone that was wondering I'll post some of the finished pics from the underwater shoot as soon as I have them and as soon as I'm allowed to post them...might even be tomorrow.

So another new editorial of my work came out late last mth. It was published in a magazine called Lifestyle Asia...surprise, surprise - I'm sure NO ONE reading this has EVER heard of it lol! I lived in Shanghai and I don't think I ever saw this magazine but to be honest I wasn't really looking for it before. So the pics from this shoot were shot on the same day as the blurry editorials I posted a few posts ago from Fantastics Magazine (North America) and Baccarat Magazine (Hong Kong)...another magazine named Mega in the Phillipines also ran the blurry version of the shoot just different pics but I haven't seen that editorial yet. Basically this is more of a commercial, classic editorial type shoot as opposed to the blurry style which was a little more avant garde/cutting edge. I don't mind this shoot, it shows of the makeup pretty decently and overall it looks okay. It's not amazing or anything but not bad either. Btw Todd is allowed to have the same editorial in various magazines as long as they are not in competing markets if anyone was wondering how that worked...kind of nice b/c then I get more exposure and credits off of the same shoot :)
Btw if anyone was curious the lip and eye makeup in this shoot was courtesy of Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics (OCC for short). I love their line and the loose colours and pigments are to die for! I even put an editorial credit for OCC in the Fantastics editorial and David Klasfeld (owner and creator of OCC) was nice enough to give me a editorial gratis credit for more OCC makeup. I think I've mentioned this before but mentioning cosmetic brands in editorials is a great way to make editorials more financially worthwhile b/c let's be real they are NOT where the money is at lol! So I'm putting my gratis towards some lip tars which I've been DYING to try and an airbrush starter kit (another thing I've been dying to experiment w/...esp. since I want to get more into bridal for the $$$).

New Editorial - Blithe Spirited

So I got a really cool surprise yesterday night. I was just doing my usual browsing on the internet of some of my fav go to sites and low and behold there was one of my editorials! It's on Fantasticsmag.com (click link to see). I knew they were going to be showcasing an editorial I did w/ Todd before I left Shanghai but w/ Fantastics you never really know when it's going to be up on their site so it was a really nice surpise to suddenly see it there!

A lot of times Todd will shoot an editorial and submit it to a bunch of magazines in various non competing markets and waits to see who picks it up. So this specific shoot is actually going to be featured in 4 magazines in 4 different markets which is really cool. He actually shot it 2 different ways too so that means it actually looks like 2 completely different shoots - one is a very commercial editorial look and the other has a blurry cool editorial look. 3 mags picked up the blurry and 1 picked up the commercial. I have the commercial one too but I can't put it up till the end of the mth when the magazine comes out though.

It's also great for me b/c each magazine will choose different pics so it's like getting multiple editorials and I can pick and choose which pics I like from each editorial. I really like the pics that were featured in Fantastics and there's a lot that show of the makeup really nicely. This same shoot was featured in this Hong Kong magazine called Baccarat and to be honest - they RUINED it! Bad pic choices IMO and they added this weird graphic thing to it which totally messes w/ the flow and feel of the editorial. I've mentioned this issue before w/ Asian magazines...sometimes they just don't get the difference between cool and tacky.

Below is the editorial featured in Fantastics as well as the editorial featured in Baccarat (you'll see what I mean about the stupid graphics). To get a better appreciation for the Fantastics editorial I suggest visiting their website though.
